Email marketing for supplement brands, timed to the day the tub runs out

Supplements get bought again, or not at all. We build the reorder timing, the claim-safe copy and the flows that decide which of those two you get.

Why this category is its own job

The pack already tells you when to send

One delay across a catalogue that empties at three different speeds. Early for some customers, late for everybody else.

A thirty serving potOne capsule a day, taken with breakfast

Gone inside the month. The reminder has to land in the third week, or the reorder goes to whoever emailed instead.

A sixty serving tubTwo scoops a day, and only on training days

Empties on your customer's schedule, not the calendar's. So this one gets the widest window of the three.

A ninety day courseTaken to the end, then reviewed

The longest gap in the catalogue, and the one a single global delay always sends far too early.

Where the money leaks

Three problems that only bite in supplements

A Klaviyo growth overview inside a live client account, the revenue the channel is credited with beside the revenue it is not

A run-out date nobody has written down

Your pack says how many servings are in it. Almost no account uses that, so the reorder goes to whichever brand happened to be in the inbox that week.

The register writes the wording. We write to it.

Copy that has to survive a claims read

Regulators write the authorised wording, not copywriters. So most supplement email ends up either risky or so vague it sells nothing.

A subscription competing with your own buyers

Subscribe and save takes margin off people who'd have reordered anyway. Then the churn lands on the second charge, where nothing's watching.

What we actually run

Five flows a consumables catalogue lives on

Each one has its own page, with the real trigger, the delays and the checks that decide who stops hearing from you.

  • The replenishment flowWaits as long as that product lasts, per product, with an order check in front of every send. Anybody who's restocked drops out.
  • The post purchase flowThe dose, the routine and the reason to finish the pot. All of it before you ask for a single reorder.
  • The cross sell flowSupplement ranges stack. This one puts the second product in front of somebody who already trusts the first.
  • The winback flowA lapse here is usually one missed reorder. So it fires earlier than it would on a considered purchase.
  • The welcome flowFour sends across ten days, carrying the offer and the reason to start. Before anybody's taken a single dose.

Campaigns sit on top of those flows, planned around your launches, your restocks and the seasons your category actually has. They run inside email marketing. The recurring revenue beside them is subscriptions and loyalty, and the map that decides which of them owns which moment is lifecycle strategy.

The argument

A supplement brand is a retention business with an acquisition budget

Here's the hard truth: nobody makes their mind up about a supplement from the first pot. The margin sits in the second order, the fourth and the eighth. We'd rather fix your reorder timing than buy the first sale twice.

Selling something people finish
What makes email marketing for supplement brands different?

Three things, and they all come from selling something people finish. The run-out date is printed on the pack in servings, so reorder timing is knowable. No guessing. The copy has to survive a claims read before it goes near a subject line. And your subscription programme competes with your own one-off buyers, so the two get planned together.

How do you decide when a supplement reorder email should send?

We take the median gap between the first and second order of each product, sit the first reminder just inside it, then move it once there are enough orders to read. The servings on the pack give us the starting number. Your order history settles it. One global delay across a catalogue of different pack sizes is always early for some customers and late for the rest.

Should a supplement brand push subscriptions or reorder reminders?

Both, doing different jobs. A subscription takes the decision away and charges automatically. A replenishment flow leaves the decision with your customer and puts it in front of them at the right moment, which catches everybody who won't commit to a recurring order. The one thing we won't do is discount a reorder somebody was always going to make, so the last send splits on order count.

Claims, consent and the inbox
Can you write health claims in supplement emails?

Only as far as your own regulatory sign-off lets us. So that's the authorised wording on the GB nutrition and health claims register, plus your product copy as it stands, applied to subject lines and preview text with the same care the pack gets. We're not your regulatory adviser, and anything we're unsure about comes to you first.

Is a supplement brand allowed to email past customers under UK GDPR and PECR?

Yes, where they bought from you, were offered a clear chance to refuse marketing at that point, and are being sent similar products. That's what the soft opt-in covers. Every send keeps a one-click unsubscribe, we record the consent basis and its source on the profile, and we never run marketing flows against a list that was bought or scraped.

Why do supplement accounts end up with deliverability problems?

Usually volume and history, not anything technical. Big old lists get imported, frequency creeps up around promotions, and nobody sunsets the people who stopped opening two years ago. GenePro arrived with exactly that: emails flagged as spam and almost nothing coming back from the channel. We fix authentication and list hygiene first, then raise volume. In that order.
